Induction

At the start of the programme you will attend a programme of induction training. On the first day you will be introduced to the scheme and the training programme, and will meet senior managers from OGC and departments who will give you an insight into working in procurement in government. You will also learn about the mentoring scheme and how you can benefit from it. In 2007 the GPGS trainees also met with the Head of the Civil Service - but we cannot promise that he will be available on every such occasion!

The Induction Day will be followed by four further days of induction training, covering an introduction to government and the civil service, the workings of parliament and ministries (including a visit to the Houses of Parliament), and the machinery of government. You will have the opportunity of meeting a Member of Parliament and a former Minister to hear from them first-hand about their work and responsibilities.

You may also receive additional induction training in your home department, introducing you to the work of the department and its procedures.
